Insurance usually allows us to bill for an initial intake appointment, then 5 units of actual psychological testing, followed by a feedback session
When you are coming primarily for an assessment, we will:
- Schedule an initial intake with both the parent and child
- Obtain a consent for treatment form
- Verify your insurance billing information
- Get an overview of the presenting problems from both you and your child’s perspective
- Dr. Walker will then refer you to our student psychometrician for the actual testing
The student psychometrician will then:
- Schedule an hour and a half block to meet with the parent and child consecutively
- Complete a semi-structured interview that assess for most childhood disorders in the DSM-5
- Give the parent and child ratings scales of symptoms for both of them to complete
- Many times we will ask the parent to have their child’s teacher also fill out ratings scales
- Complete an intelligence test with your child
- Complete other individualized tests with your child, as needed to better assess their individual presenting problems
Dr. Walker will supervise the student throughout the process, and then provide you with a completed psychological report at the end. The report will summarize the information that we collected and provide you with evidence based recommendations to address your child’s presenting problems.
